Water Equipment Operator- Forsyth County Water Department.

Non-exempt salary $13.36/hr. Installs, maintains, repairs water/wastewater utility lines and mains; locates water/sewer lines, excavates around utility lines, cables, gas mains, and service lines; digs out pipes, services lines, and meters; operates tapping machine to connect services into main lines; attaches water meters to service lines; digs trench lines using backhoe. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 yrs. previous experience and/or training involving plumbing or water utility maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Pre-Treatment Inspector- Forsyth County Water Department.

Non-exempt salary $13.92/hr. Conducts field inspections and monitoring of industrial and commercial accounts that discharge to Forsyth County sewers to ensure compliance of pre-treatment and waste control devices/processes with applicable codes, ordinances, and permit requirements. Reviews plans of future pre-treatment facilities; evaluates blueprints and makes recommendations. Installs sewer flow meters; calibrates, maintains, and repairs sewer flow meters. Inspects sewer system for inflow and infiltration; prepares and publishes sewer flow reports. Collects and tests water samples; conducts water analysis to determine quality of water. Communicates with adjacent municipalities regarding sewer system problems or issues. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: HS diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in pretreatment inspections and wastewater system operations; supplemented by 1 yr. previous experience and/or training involving industrial/commercial pretreatment processes, pretreatment inspections, wastewater collection systems, and pc operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain valid Class II Wastewater System Operator license and/or Wastewater Collection System Operator certification. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Leak Detection Coordinator-Forsyth County Water Department.

Non-exempt salary $15.58/hr. Conducts surveys of the County’s water distribution system and water collection system to identify anomalies and potential problems involving leaks, inflow, infiltration, overflow, illegal discharge, etc.; conducts tests of distribution system to locate leaks. Installs flow meters on water lines and sewer lines; analyzes and interprets flow data from water system and sewer system. Constructs computer models of water system. Supervises activities of contractors engaged to repair leaks; monitors and inspects work to ensure compliance with County work specifications. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in civil engineering, sewer collection systems, and waste treatment; supplemented by 3 years previous experience and/or training that includes civil engineering, sewer collection and distribution systems, water/sewer flow meter installation, leak detection in a municipal water system; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain valid Water Distribution System Operator certification and Wastewater Collection System Operator certification. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. City of Albany WATER PLANT OPERATOR III

DUTIES: May monitor water treatment plant processes and equipment operations per established procedures to ensure proper treatment of potable water per federal/state regulations Monitors and inspects plant equipment and operations for safety. maintenance and proper process operations- reports equipment failures or other problems to chief operator or shift supervisor Collects water samples for laboratory analysis: may perform pH. fluoride, chlorine, and other water quality test as required. Records instrument readings and test results: operates raw and finished water pumps. maintains and operates wells and distribution system. Adjust plant flows and chemical feed system required. Under supervision operates electrical and mechanical controls regulated to water flow through various stages of operations, adjusts operational controls as needed or required. May perform operational adjustments on gauges and controls as neccssary. Operates water plant equipment to include but not limited to; pumps, valves, filters, motors. mixers, SCADA system, alum feed Systems and related equipment Operates solids treatment facility and performs necessary laboratory work to determine sludge thickness and proper chemical feed May be required to respond to emergencies during after hours and weekends. Performs various cleaning, repair, and maintenance tasks necessary to maintain plant, machinery equipment, tools and grounds in satisfactory condition (which may include inspecting/testing equipment, lubricating pumps, cleaning equipment cleaning building and work areas, lifting/moving heavy materials etc.). Maintains logs and records of test results, meter readings, chemical applications, and other data Prepares and/or completes various forms, reports, inventores. checklists. logs, or other documents, forwards or maintains as appropriate. Communicates with supervisor. employees, to exchange information, or resolve problems. Communicates via telephone and/or two-way radio. provides information: takes and relays messages. may respond to requests for service Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge and awareness of applicable laws/regulations: maintains an awareness of new trends/advances in the profession, reads professional literature: attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate. Performs other related duties as required WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK ROTATING SHIFTS- Employees hired in this position are subject to random drug testing according to Department of Transportation rules and regulations, STARTING SALARY $11.19 TO 13.96 PER HOUR. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required: must obtain Class III Georgia Water Operator Certificate within one (1) year of employment: or any equivalent combination of education, training. and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License. Operating WG&L vehicles/equipmcnt the employee is required to maintain an acceptable insurable dnving record. Employee cannot have any DUl's ot reckless driving. No more than two moving viololations in a three-year period. No more than one fault accident in a three-year period.
