Cornelia Water Treatment Operator

The City of Cornelia has an immediate opening for a Water Treatment Operator. Candidates should be dependable and conscientious with the ability to work well independently with minimal supervision. Must be physically able to lift and/or carry 50lbs or more on a frequent basis, walk up and down stairs, and be able to wear a respirator or SCBA. Must possess a current State of Georgia Water Plant Operator License. Must have a valid Georgia driver's license. Must have the ability to work day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Duties will include: Operation and maintenance of equipment, such as pumps, motors, and chemical feed systems. Collection of samples and monitoring/analysis of lab test and recording results. Replacement of chlorine cylinders and regulation of chlorine flow. Conducting daily meter readings. Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions. Other tasks as assigned. CHIEF, WATER & WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATIONS

The City of Montezuma, Georgia , a beautiful central Georgia town, is accepting applications for the position of Chief, Water & Wastewater Plant Operations. The Chief is responsible for operating 2 Wastewater Treatment Plants and 2 Water Treatment Plants and controls a budget of approximately $ 1 million. Montezuma is a progressive community of 4,500 with a Mayor-Council form of government. It is located on the Andersonville Trail 21 miles from Interstate 75, within easy driving distance of Atlanta, the mountains of North Georgia or the beach areas.

QUALIFICATIONS: Five years of experience relating to the construction, repair and maintenance of wastewater and water treatment systems including the operation of related maintenance equipment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a Minimum Georgia Class I certification in Wastewater Treatment and Minimum Class II Water Treatment Certification. Also, state certification as a Lab Analyst is required. Extensive knowledge in Industrial Sequencing Batch Reactor Systems is critical. Considerable knowledge of activated sludge and extended aeration is necessary. Reports to the Mayor and is an integral member of the City's management team. A team orientation is a must.

SALARY/BENEFITS: Starting salary is negotiable from $45,000 - $54,484 annually. Excellent benefits include: paid health, life, and dental insurance; paid retirement; paid sick, vacation and holiday leave; uniforms and upon relocation to Macon County, a take home vehicle.

WATER DISTRIBUTION SUPERVISOR City of Sylvester

The City of Sylvester is accepting applications and resumes for the position of Water Distribution Supervisor. The City of Sylvester is a city of 6,000 citizens with 2,800 utility accounts. It is located 20 miles east of Albany and 18 miles west of Tifton. Sylvester is a progressive city with an ambitious plan for Utility Services.

MAJOR DUTIES
This position is responsible for directing and performing installation, repair, and maintenance of the water distribution system.

Checks wells and oil levels; adds chlorine and fluoride as needed.

Collects water samples for analysis by state laboratory.

Repairs cut or damaged water lines.

Installs and repairs water line taps.

Locates water line leaks.

Locates water lines for crews and other utility companies.

Responds to emergency service calls as required.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIRED
Knowledge of methods and practices of installing, maintaining, and repairing water mains and lines.

Knowledge of state and federal guidelines relating to the operation of water distribution and sewage collection systems.

Skill in laying pipe.

Skill in the use of such tools as wrenches, pumps, concrete saw, jackhammer, and metal detector.

Skill in the use of such equipment as backhoe, dump truck and trenching machine.

Skill in supervision.

Skill in performing standard mathematical calculations.

Skill in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.

Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with 1 to 3 years experience or service.

Possession of/or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain state-certified water distribution, and/or wastewater treatment licenses as appropriate.

UTILITIES SUPERINTENDENT City of Sylvester

This position is responsible for directing and overseeing the operation and personnel of the city-owned natural gas system, electric utility and water distribution divisions.

Consults with the City Manager to determine and prioritize equipment needs and department goals and objectives. Develops and implements policies and procedures for each of the assigned divisions.

Coordinates the work of the department with engineers, consultants, contractors and other utilities.

Ensures that city-operated utilities function in compliance with state and federal environmental regulations and safety guidelines.

Responds to customer complaints or calls reporting utility problems; investigates and determines causes of problems; schedules required repairs.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIRED

Knowledge of methods and practices involved in the design, operation, construction, maintenance and repair of city-owned utilities.

Knowledge of water distribution, municipal electrical distribution, and gas system operations and practices.

Skill in public relations and interpersonal communications.

Skill in using a computer and automated design software.

Skill in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the department, usually interpreted to require 3 to 5 years of related experience.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain Integrated Transmission System (ITS) Certification.

Possession of/or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain water, sewer, electric distribution licenses as appropriate.
