Water Treatment Plant Operator

The City of Cornelia has an immediate opening for a Water Treatment Plant Operator. Must be physically able to lift and/or carry 50lbs or more on a frequent basis, walk up and down stairs, and be able to wear a respirator or SCBA. Candidates must possess a current State of Georgia Water Plant Operator’s license and a valid Georgia driver’s license. Applicants must have the ability to work day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Salary is commensurate with experience and level of certification. Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator/Environmental Technician

An additional full-time operator is needed for an industrial plant in Savannah, Georgia. Georgia Class III or Industrial Operator license (or equivalent) is preferable. JOB DESCRIPTION
Environmental/Utilities Technician
AWT/Fuji Vegetable Oil, Savannah, Georgia
July 30, 2005/mjb

Duties:

Daily sampling of inplant wastewater oil containment sumps
Field recording information, input into analysis system
Pump accumulated material off of sumps and WTF primary separator, transfer to RO storage tank, as needed
Field record information, input into analysis system
Daily sampling of inplant process wastewater streams, transport samples to Fuji lab, field record appropriate parameters
Monitor WTF operations during off shift time for main operator, make limited, defined operation decisions and actions
Maintenance and repair in WTF area, as time and capabilities permit
Other environmental and utility support tasks as time allows

This person would work 4-10 hour days, 2 people on a rotating basis to maintain 7-day per week coverage.

Qualifications:

Minimum HS diploma
Any WTF operations experience and certifications a plus
Any maintenance and mechanical experience a plus
Need to pass Fuji entrance requirements for new hourly employees (drug test, etc.)
Need to meet AWT minimum requirements for employment

Compensation:

$10 - $15/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
AWT medical and other benefits
Potential to become shift WTF certified operator

The third annual Water Festival 2005 will host approximately 825 5th grade students from several Southwest Georgia counties. The three-day event will be a fun packed, hands-on, educational experience that will feature presentations made by local city and state agencies on topics focused on the many uses of water, and will promote groundwater conservation awareness. Presentation topics will include Municipal Water Use, Conservation of Water, Non-Point Source Pollution, Agricultural Water Use, Recreational Water Use, as well as several other topics.
