Salary Range: $70,000 to $85,000

The General Manager is the most senior staff position for the Andalusia Utilities Board, a system which provides electric, water and wastewater services to a town of 9000 people in Southeast Alabama. The General Manager should have either an engineering or technical degree (preferred), or another degree from an accredited university with sufficient experience in the utilities field to demonstrate the technical background needed. The candidate should be a leader, with good communication and people skills, and must also have a working knowledge of financial and personnel matters. It is also important that the General Manager have the ability to deal with contractors, employees, customers and public officials. The General Manager will report to the Board of Directors.

Town of Thunderbolt Public Works Director

The Town of Thunderbolt, GA is recruiting a Public Works Director to supervise, oversee and direct the operation of the public works department as well as the water distribution and sewer collection system. It requires monitoring all equipment for routine operation, maintaining records, supervisory and leadership skills, and preferably a background of five years of increasingly responsible experience in public works and/or water-sewer utilities. This position is also responsible for operating the system in compliance with applicable local, state, and Federal environmental requirements, including performing daily rounds, assisting with equipment repairs, and troubleshooting and correcting operational problems. Knowledge of EPD regulations a must. Applicant must posses at least a class III water certificate. Applicant must also possess a certificate in sewer collection systems or the ability to earn the certificate within six months. Requirements: Some college preferred, High School diploma is required. Non-exempt $14.26/hr. Conducts field inspections and monitoring of industrial and commercial accounts that discharge to Forsyth County sewers to ensure compliance of pre-treatment and waste control devices/processes with applicable codes, ordinances, and permit requirements.

Performs inspections and testing of backflow assemblies in water meters of residential, commercial, and fire water lines to monitor and prevent water contamination; tests water samples; tests toxic gas levels when working in confined spaces. Issues cross connection permits; collects permit fees.
