General Nature of Work:

This position is involved in the operation of the Water Treatment Plant equipment and its facilities on an assigned shift. Work is performed under the supervision of the Water Plant Superintendent , Assistant Superintendent, and guidance is provided by the Water Plant Operators. The supervisor gives somewhat general instructions, procedures, and the nature and propriety of the final results. Work frequently requires the employee to refine existing work methods and develop new techniques. This position is involved in conducting a variety of tests for the safe efficient operation of water plant equipment on assigned shift . Contacts are typically with other department personnel, and are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, and to provide service. The work involves the use of tools or equipment in the operation of a municipal water plant. Work is performed in an office and outdoors. The Water Plant Operator III may be exposed to hot, cold or inclement weather , dust, dirt, fumes, irritating chemicals, toxic conditions, and machinery and its moving parts.

Qualifications:

(1) Graduation from high school or G.E.D

(2) The ability to obtain a Class III Treatment Plant Operator’s Certificate issued by the State of Georgia, within Twelve (12) months of employment.

(3) Ability to meet the insurability requirements of the City of Milledgeville automobile insurance policy.
