Gainesville City Government Public Utilities Department is recruiting an Assistant Public Utilities Director. Responsibilities: Assists the Public Utilities Director in all public utility activities to provide and maintain water and sanitary sewer systems for the City of Gainesville, including operation and administra¬tion of potable Water Treatment Facilities, Water Reclamation Facilities, Water Distribution, Sewage Collections, Laboratory, Watershed and Environmen¬tal Services, Customer Services and Billing, Finance, and Engineering/Planning Services. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Business or related field. Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, and Public Administration is desirable. Ten to fifteen years water and wastewater services experience, including seven in a management capacity. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above. Salary: $75,566 - $113,360/Year DOQ. Foreman/Equipment Operator

The Eatonton-Putnam Water and Sewer Authority is now accepting applications for the position of Foreman/Equipment Operator. Successful candidate must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent; be able to perform preventive and corrective maintenance procedures common to water and sewer; be able to lift moderate weight and be able to work with limited supervision. Moderate to extensive knowledge of water and/or sewer operations is preferred. Candidate must have sufficient experience to understand basic principles relevant to major duties of the position usually associated with having held a similar position. Candidate must have a Water Distribution Operators License or have the ability to obtain such license. Position requires skill in operating various pieces of equipment including a backhoe.

Job Summary Performs all tasks related to inspection, operation and maintenance of water treatment plants and water distribution systems.
Major Responsibilities


-Field service response to customer calls on an as needed basis.
-Operate wells, treatment processes and equipment in well field.
-Operate and maintain the water distribution system.
-Maintains, lubricates, and assists in preventive maintenance of equipment and machinery repairs.
-Operates pumps and valves to regulate water flow, pressure and levels.
-Performs daily plant duties including housekeeping, measuring chemical usage, replenishing chemicals to day tanks, ordering chemicals and supplies, and collecting water samples.
-Responds to customer questions and complaints.
-Performs “On-Call’ duties at the utility in response to problems related to the distribution system, and wells and treatment facilities.
-Completes customer service orders. Installs and reads water meters.
Other Responsibilities Performs water main flushing duties.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Computer Skills Required:
Preferred: Word and Excel
Other Skills :Be able to readily read, understand and accurately follow operating instructions both written and verbal.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a personality that allows full cooperation, communication with, and assistance to other employees and the public.
Must be conscientious in regards to Company safety policies and possess the ability to send and receive instructions by phone and radio.
Education Required: High school diploma or the equivalent.
Preferred:
Certifications/Licenses Required: Valid Driver’s Operator’s License.
Current state Wastewater treatment certifications/ licenses required for operation of ground water supplied water system.
Preferred:
Experience: Must have 1 year of previous experience in the operation and maintenance of ground-water supplied water systems and associated distribution system.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and move equipment in excess of 75 lbs. and the ability to work in confined spaces.
