Position Summary: This position is responsible to maintain the operations of the City’s Waste Water Treatment Plant under the direction of the Water/Waste Water Department Director. Experience and knowledge necessary to operate a water pollution control plant and assist in the maintenance of plant facilities. Duties include monitoring the water treatment process, test samples, monitoring the performance and maintenance of equipment and maintenance of records. Will work in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry 50 to 100 lbs. Will drive a light truck as needed.

Education, Experience, Training, Special Licenses, and Other Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required – Only those applicants with both experience and a willingness to commit to obtaining Georgia Certified Class III Operator License or applicants who have obtained a Class III license will be considered.
Additional Requirements: Valid Georgia Drivers License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR); Acceptable Criminal Background Report; and Acceptable Drug Screen.

Skills:
Required: Previous experience. Good reading and writing skills and the ability to follow safety procedures required.

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $13.02 - $19.65
Position Schedule: Full time, 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday with overtime when required.

WATER TREATMENT PLANT MANAGER: The City of Monroe is accepting applications for the position of a WATER TREATMENT PLANT MANAGER, with knowledge of managing and supervising the daily operations of a water treatment plant and laboratory to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws. This position has direct supervision over all Water Treatment Plant Operators, Lab Analysts, and Apprentice/Trainees, and performs other related duties as assigned. Applicant must be in possession of a State of Georgia Class I Water Operator Certification. Working hours are 10 to 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays. Water Operator/Public Works Sky Valley Ga.

The City of Sky Valley is accepting applications and resumes for the position of Water Operator/Public Works. The City of Sky Valley is a city of approximately 220 full-time citizens with slightly more than 650 utility accounts. The city encompasses approximately 3 square miles and is located in the NE Georgia mountains on the border of GA and NC.
MAJOR DUTIES
This position is responsible for performing installation, repair, and maintenance of the water distribution system.
Checking wells, tanks, and booster pumping stations; adding chemicals as needed.
Collecting water samples for analysis by state laboratory.
Repairing cut or damaged water lines and roads.
Installing and repairing water line taps.
Installing, maintaining, and reading water meters.
Locating water line leaks.
Locating water lines for crews and other utility companies.
Responding to emergency service calls as required.
Preparing reports.

SECONDARY DUTIES
Repairing and maintaining city streets.
Maintaining storm drains and culverts.
Removing roadside mowing operations.
Performing snow removal operations.
Performing work related to solid waste collection.
Maintaining vehicles & equipment.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIRED
Knowledge of methods and practices of installing, maintaining, and repairing water mains and lines.
Knowledge of state and federal guidelines relating to the operation of water distribution system.
Skill in laying pipe.
Skill in the use of such equipment as backhoe, dump truck, tractors, mowing equipment, wood chipper, snow plow equipment, compaction roller, garbage truck, water testing equipment, chain saws, pavement saws, and various hand tools as required.
Skill in supervision.
Skill in performing standard mathematical calculations.
Skill in oral and written communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education or equivalent.
Possession of state-certified water distribution license III or higher.
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with 1 to 3 years experience.
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
Ability to work safely.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
Valid Georgia Driver’s License and CDL certification or the ability to obtain one.
Applicant will be required to submit to a drug screening and background check.

Requirements
