Water Plant Operator- Eatonton Putnam Water & Sewer Authority

The Eatonton Putnam Water & Sewer Authority is seeking Qualified Applicants to fill the position of operator at their water treatment facility located in Eatonton, Georgia. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the facility as well as other duties as assigned by the Plant Manger. Candidates must be willing to work all shifts including Nights, weekends, holidays, extended hours, etc.
Minimal qualifications: valid Georgia Drivers license, valid Georgia Water Treatment Operators License, ability to lift 60lbs overhead, High school diploma or GED,
Preferred qualifications: Georgia Class 1 Water Operators license, experience in drinking water treatment, 5 or more years operating and maintaining drinking water facilities, Water Laboratory Certification.
Candidates are subject to Drug screen.

Recruiting Salary $50,000 - $62,500

General Description:

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in Water Treatment Facility operations, maintenance, and laboratory analysis. Receives complaints from public concerning drinking water; performs field inspections and recommends appropriate action for resolution. Maintains records of water samples, test results, and submits regularly scheduled reports to the Environmental Protection Division. Assist in preparation of the annual budget for submission to the Director of the Water and Sewer Division. Performs such administrative duties as requisitioning supplies and equipment; preparing payroll, sick leave, vacation, and accident reports; and making arrangements for equipment repair.

Work Experience Requirements:

· Knowledge of the chemical, physical, and biological principles of Water Treatment Systems, Water Distribution Systems, and Water Laboratory Analysis.

· Knowledge of operational practices and procedures of the Water Treatment System.

· Knowledge of the equipment, materials, operating practices and maintenance of the Water Treatment System.

· Skill in utilizing software programs required to operate the water treatment facility, water process control, reporting, and preventive maintenance.

· Skill in using laboratory equipment and in following correct laboratory procedures.

· Skill in maintaining records, preparing written and computerized reports on plant operations, and analyzing laboratory reports.

· Skill in oral and written communications.

Education Requirements:

· Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

· Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

· Possession of a State of Georgia Class I Water System Operator Certification.
