The City of Elberton is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Wastewater Plant Operator.
NATURE OF WORK
The job of wastewater treatment plant operator in a small municipality carries with it many duties and responsibilities. Some are obvious, many are not. All too often the operator is not just the operator, but also laborer, lab technician and mechanic. Working hours are 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Applicant should have basic knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of pumps, motors, compressors, and similar equipment.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Applicant must be a High School or GED graduate, hold a valid Driver’s License, and pass a background drug screen. Applicant must obtain certification in the operation of a treatment facility as provided by the City of Elberton upon hire.
This is a full-time position and compensation will be based on qualification and experience.
