Maintenance Technician

SALARY: $13.55 - $21.01 Hourly 
$28,184.00 - $43,700.80 Annually

SUMMARY:
Performs routine electrical and mechanical repair and maintenance functions to ensure proper operation of Water Reclamation Facilities, Water Treatment Facilities, and Pump Stations equipment.
 
 
JOB DUTIES:
Repairs and rebuilds electrical equipment at wastewater treatment plants, water reclamation facilities, water treatment facilities, pump stations, and all other Public Utility Department  (PUD) facilities, including electrical motors and control panels.
 
Monitors operating condition, troubleshoots and maintains all electrical and mechanical equipment at water reclamation facilities, water treatment facilities, pump stations, and all other PUD facilities to ensure operation at specified capacities and performance levels.
 
Repairs mechanical equipment to include rebuilding pumps and changing bearings; performs routine preventative maintenance activities, including changing oil, lubricating and greasing of all equipment.
 
Operates backhoe and crane truck to dig up electrical valves and install machinery and equipment.
 
Performs welding repairs at PUD facilities, as required.
 
Assist with inventory of spare parts and equipment to assure adequate supplies are available for maintenance and repairs.
 
Performs occasional maintenance work on departmental motor vehicles and heavy equipment.
 
Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Employee subject to recall to duty in cases of emergency.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
 
High school diploma or G.E.D.
 
Technical school diploma in related field desired.
 
Two years related experience required.
 
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.
 
Licenses and Certifications:
 
Valid Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
 
Level III Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred.
 
Level II Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred.
 
Water Distribution System Operator License preferred.
 
Wastewater Collection System Operator License preferred.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 
Knowledge of basic electrical troubleshooting.
 
Knowledge of mechanical repairs.
 
Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and practices.
 
Skill in operating welder and acetylene torch.
 
Skill in operating machinery and using assorted hand tools.
 
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
 
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and specifications.
 
 
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
This position is classified as safety-sensitive.  Incumbent will be subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

  • Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level III Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate.
     
  • Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level II Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate.
     
  • Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Water Distribution System Operator License.
     
  • Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Wastewater Collection System Operator License.
     
     
    Allows maximum of 10% above grade 16.
