Construction Manager II (Crooked Creek Water Reclamation Facility)

$58,971 - $68,553 Annually

The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources is a publicly-owned utility, committed to providing excellent water, waste water and storm water services at the best possible value to the citizens of Gwinnett County.  The department is widely recognized for service excellence in the operation of 2 water production facilities, 3 water reclamation facilities and 226 pump stations.  In addition, DWR maintains 3,667 miles of water lines, 2,654 miles of sewer lines and 1,325 miles of storm water pipe.  The Department of Water Resources takes pride in stewardship of the environmental resources entrusted to us and pledge to be responsible as we manage water as a limited, but renewable, resource.

This position will be responsible for the management of the Crooked Creek CP-4 Improvement project.  Scope of this project includes the replacement or modifications of the remaining key processes within the existing Crooked Creek Water Reclamation Facility (CCWRF), such as the septage receiving station, chemical addition facilities, secondary clarifiers, U.V. system, post aeration system, solids handling facilities, plant hydraulic gradient, and plant access and site security. Other responsibilities will include directing and managing an inspection contract, arranging inspections, and determining the appropriate corrective action based upon the inspection results.  This position will prioritize and assign inspection work, provide QA/QC of asset inspection documentation, provide budget reviews, and schedules and change orders.  This position will interface with CCWRF operations and maintenance staff, consultants, and general contractors.  The selected individual will need to prepare memoranda, review construction reports and cost estimates, respond to contract compliance questions from staff, management, and contractors.  The individual will have the capability to review design documents prepared by others, and recognize and resolve various construction related issues. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or closely related;
  • Five years of experience in construction management
  • Project management, and construction inspection experience preferred;
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License

 
Knowledge and Skills

  • Basic knowledge of water and wastewater unit treatment processes
  • Experience with the design and construction of water and sewer pipelines and storm water collection systems
  • Knowledge of construction methods and practices
  • Erosion and sedimentation control principles and standards
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Technical writing
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project (scheduling)
  • Problem solving
  • Field safety requirements
