WASTEWATER/WATER PLANT OPERATOR

The City of Elberton is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Wastewater/Water Plant Operator.

NATURE OF WORK
An individual in this job classification is responsible for the daily operations of the wastewater and filtration plants. This position requires an individual to be able to work day and evening shifts as well as weekends.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Applicant should have basic knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of pumps, motors, compressors, and similar equipment with skills in compiling and analyzing data. Applicant must also have the ability to detect flaws and defects in the operation of treatment equipment and initiate proper corrective action.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED certification, a valid driver’s license, and pass a background drug screening. Applicant must attend 40 hours basic operator training course within six months of employment and receive certification in the operation of a treatment facility.

This is a full-time position and compensation will be based on qualification and experience.
