Deputy Director of Water & Wastewater

The City of Griffin, Georgia is comfortably located approximately 40 miles south of Atlanta and 10 miles west of Interstate 75. With a population of almost 24,000 and an area of 14.6 square miles, Griffin combines hometown charm with big city convenience, making it the perfect place to live, work and raise a family. The Water & Wastewater Department operates two water treatment plants that are permitted for a total of 24.5 MGD. The City of Griffin owns and operates a regional distribution system servicing Griffin, Williamson, Zebulon and Concord. In addition, we service Pike County, Spalding County and parts of Coweta and Meriwether Counties. In addition, we are the owner and operator of three (3) wastewater treatment plants and one land application system. We are currently permitted for 6.75 MGD. It is our commitment to provide the finest drinking water possible and deliver superior service to our customers at a reasonable cost.

This position is responsible for directing the day-to-day functions of our Water & Wastewater Departments, including our Water Distribution function. We are looking for an energetic hands-on professional with a proven ability to lead by example, the aptitude to foster cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers, the vision to inspire staff to greater heights and a strong work ethic. This is an upwardly mobile position with an excellent opportunity for advancement, for the right person.

We seek an effective leader with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field with three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in a leadership role.
