Position Summary

The Water Treatment Technician conducts, as directed, water sample collection, test for industrial, chemical, refinery clients. Performs installation and repairs of sampling and test equipment and components when necessary.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Handles the collection of process samples at assigned client locations as scheduled
  2. Manually collects process data through several types of analytical methods and devices
  3. Maintains reporting and labeling requirements of chemical inventories and usages
  4. Interface with existing customer base
  5. Collaborates as part of a team to load chemical compartment tractor trailers and safely transfer bulk / semi-bulk additives to storage tanks
  6. Works with pumps, generators, hoses, and fittings to complete sampling duties
  7. Handles assignments to move materials, components and other products
  8. Completes assigned documentation and submittal of lab results to account managers
  9. Orders and inventories lab supplies and handles general lab maintenance
  10. Keeps immediate supervisor up to date on all projects, with regards to project status, completion time, and any problems that may have arisen during the course of the project
  11. Operates required machinery and equipment in a safe manner following established safety rules, maintaining a neat and clean work area, following established tool and instrument control procedures, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to immediate supervisor
  12. Performs other special projects and duties as required

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High School diploma
  • Mechanical aptitude is required with moderate analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol tests and agree to random testing
  • Must possess current Driver’s license with ability to travel locally to client work sites

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related Associate's or BA/BS Degree with chemistry coursework
  • Laboratory experience using wet chemistry testing methods
  • Industrial or chemical/refinery plant experience
  • Experience handling hazardous materials
  • Experience working with pumps, hoses and fittings.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
