Job Description

Purpose

This position is responsible for participating in the activities of the Street Maintenance Department under the direction of the Department Manager.

Role and Responsibilities

• Monitors equipment for proper and efficient function, and solving operational problems.

• Assists in the completing of all city beautification tasks such as: easement cutting, ditch maintenance, and trash pick-up.
• Assists in the maintenance and repair of all storm water and street infrastructures.
• Responds to after-hours emergencies and prepared to be on-call.
• Inspects equipment before use to ensure that there are no defects or needed repairs.
• Operates (but not limited to): city pick-up trucks, mowers, weed eaters, edgers, concrete saw, and pole saws.
• Participates in safe work practices and helps in the training of safety precautions and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. Must have normal or correctable color vision and a valid GA driver’s license (Class B CDL preferred) and active GA flagger’s certification.
