Job Description
Purpose This position is responsible for the operation of assigned heavy equipment as directed by the Department Manager and Project Manager. Role and Responsibilities Must be proficient with using a motor grader. Monitors equipment for proper and efficient function, and solving operational problems. Assists in the completing of all city beautification tasks such as: easement cutting, ditch maintenance, and trash pick-up. Assists in the maintenance and repair of all storm water, water, sewer, and street infrastructures. Responds to after-hours emergencies and prepared to be on-call. Operates and maintains heavy motorized equipment. Moves, dirt, gravel, rock, sand, and other heavy materials. Inspects equipment before use to ensure that there are no defects or needed repairs. Operates (but not limited to): boom truck, excavator/back hoe, bush hog, street sweeper, mosquito truck, dump truck, by-pass pumps, and tractors. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Diploma or GED with minimum OSHA 10 and Competent Person Certifications in Excavation. Must have normal or correctable color vision and a valid Class B CDL driver’s license.
