Assistant Manager Wastewater Operations

Job Summary:

Responsible for plant management, employee training and purchasing for Macon Water Authority's Wastewater Treatment Plants.

This person will oversee the operation of either the Lower Poplar Street or Rocky Creek Wastewater Treatment Plants.

Essential Duties:

• Ensure that plants operate in compliance with EPD/NPDES permit.
• Ensure that plant operations and duties are performed in a safe manner.
• Ensure that plants remains in compliance with State Risk Management Plan.
• Ensure compliance with Storm Water Management Permit.
• Prepare terrorism risk assessment.
• Prepare budget for both plants.
• Perform administrative tasks associated with plant operations.
• Maintain inventory supply.
• Audit facility and operations for potential problems.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested by supervisors.

Qualifications:

• The successful candidate must have their Class I certification in wastewater.
• Five years of relevant supervisory experience.
• Four-year degree with appropriate course work in environmental sciences, biology, or chemistry is highly desirable.
• Experience and training in the wastewater treatment field can compensate for degree.
• Georgia Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent walking.
• Ability to carry 25 pounds up to 50 pounds and occasional over 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, stooping and occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
• Ability to grasp and hold.

Salary Range:  55,920 to $83,880
