Responsibilities:
- Regularly participates in the daily operations and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment and Collection Systems as directed by the Project Manager.
- Participates in an on-call rotation on weekends, holidays and outside normal workday hours. Will be required to respond to emergency or unpredicted situations.
- Applicant is responsible for operating plant equipment such as aerators, filters, pumps, lift stations, aeration basins, anoxic basins, instrumentation, motors, clarifiers, chemical feed systems, blowers, mixers, generators, lighting, chlorinators, rake drives, bar screens, storage tanks, meters, air compressors, sludge dewatering equipment, and other similarly related plant components and equipment.
- Applicant will be able to adjust plant equipment to achieve the best possible treatment results and to maintain compliance with the plant operating permit.
- Applicant will perform daily checks of the facility to document operational status and maintenance requirements.
- Applicant will assist in maintaining a complete and accurate on-site log book and records on water and/or wastewater quality analysis, in accordance with the facility’s permit.
Qualifications:
- High School or trade school diploma is required, one to three years experience in wastewater treatment facility operation and maintenance.
- Georgia Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License Class 3 (minimum) or the ability to obtain through the operator’s exam or reciprocity a must.
- A valid Georgia Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
- Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation' and maintenance of Wastewater Treatment and Collection Systems.
- Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in wastewater treatment work.
- Knowledge of computer applications.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings and specifications for work assigned.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
