CITY OF MILLEDGEVILLE JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Water and Sewer Maintenance Assistant Superintendent
DEPARTMENT: Water and Sewer Maintenance
SCHEDULE: Full-Time - 8-hour shifts (On-Call when needed)
SALARY: Negotiable – Dependent Upon Experience
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: July 12, 2019 – August 9, 2019

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the installation, and repair of water and sewer mains and lines. Perform preventive and routine maintenance on equipment; coordinates service and repairs with Shop personnel as necessary. Supervise and participate in the installation and repair of sewer and water line taps; ensures that proper grade and compaction are achieved. Cuts asphalt to reach water and sewer lines; repairs utility cuts necessitated by water and sewer repairs. Responsible for the installation and repair of fire hydrants and the disconnect and/or restoration of water and sewer services.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
• Must currently possess or successfully obtain Waste Water Collection/Water Distribution license within one year of hire.
• Minimum of Class B CDL License
• Knowledge of the methods and practices in installing, maintaining, and repairing water and sewer mains and lines.
• Knowledge of state and federal guidelines relating to the operation of a water distribution and sewage collection system.
• Knowledge of the geography of the city.
• Skill in laying pipe.
• Skill in the use of such tools as wrenches, pumps, line locator, concrete saw, jackhammer, and metal detector.
• Skill in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer lines and mains.
• Skill in operating and maintaining equipment such as a backhoe, roller, dump truck, jet washer, trencher, sewer rodding machine, boring machine, and tractor with bush hog.
• Skill in supervision
• Skill in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must possess or successfully obtain Waste Water Collection/Water Distribution License within one year of hire.
• Valid State of Georgia Class B CDL Driver’s License
• Skill in driving a truck.
• Skill in standard masonry practices.
• Skill in the use of such tools and equipment as backhoe, front-end loader, roller, dump truck, trencher and other equipment used in the water and sewer construction, maintenance and repair.
