Water Sewer Plant Operator Trainee
The City of Tybee Island is now accepting applications for the position of Water/Sewer Plant Operator Trainee.
Description of Duties:
This full-time position is responsible for learning and applying the operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant. Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of plant operations, compliance with state and federal operating regulations, and underground sewer system. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Plant Operator, subject to review through reports and results achieved. Performs all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
- Pass a background check and employment drug screen.
- Applicant must be available to work some weekends and holidays.
- Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of water and sewer pumping and treatment equipment and facilities.
- Applicant must be State Certified as a Wastewater Operation Class III or Water Operator Class III or Water Distribution, or the capabilities to obtain one of these certifications within two (2) years of employment.
