Utility Worker
The City of Tybee Island is now accepting applications for the position of Utility Worker for the Public Works and Water Sewer Departments.
Description of Duties:
This full-time position performs a variety of manual, semi-skilled and equipment operation tasks in the construction, maintenance and operation of city facilities which is performed alone or as part of a crew involving construction, repair and maintenance of buildings, parks and other public facilities; construction repair, installation and maintenance of streets; storm drain maintenance; grounds maintenance; custodial work; and assisting in constructing, repairing, and maintaining water and sewer lines and mains. This job will be a split job position working for the Public Works Department during the season (May-October) as a Laborer and Water Sewer Department (November-April) as a Maintenance Worker. Also included is assisting with set-up and clean-up of special events, and operating equipment specific to the area.
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess:
- High School Diploma or equivalence.
- A valid Georgia Drivers’ License or the ability to obtain one.
- Pass a background check and employment drug screen.
- Previous experience in similar type of work is preferred with specific experience in any skilled trade work.
- Applicant must be available to work some weekends and holidays.
