Hiring Agency: Jackson County Water & Sewerage Authority
Ends: May 21, 2020
Full Time

GIS Coordinator

Come join the family of Jackson County Water and Sewerage Authority (JCWSA), one of the fastest growing water and sewer utilities in Georgia.  This rare and tremendous job opportunity offers stability, variety, outstanding benefits and a promotive work culture.  The position of GIS Coordinator will build upon one of the best utility GIS systems in the state of Georgia. The GIS Coordinator will integrate GIS systems with many Authority functions/databases including work orders, customer billing, meter reading, maintenance programs, asset management, hydraulic models and emergency management.  Working under the Authority Engineer, the GIS Coordinator will be in integral part of JCWSA, offering support to all departments.

The JCWSA was created as a political subdivision of the State of Georgia by an act of the Georgia General Assembly in 1986 to provide water and sewer service to citizens of Jackson County.  JCWSA is a medium-sized utility serving nearly 10,000 customers.  Jefferson Georgia lies approximately 50 miles northwest of Atlanta.  Jefferson City Schools frequently rank #1 in the state of Georgia for College and Career Ready performance indicators.  Jefferson City and Jackson County offer a unique combination of rural living and outstanding city or county schools with easy access to a major metropolitan area.

The GIS Coordinator will be laser-focused on GIS as it relates to water and sewer services without the typical distractions and limitations of many local governments.  JCWSA does not collect tax money and operates as an enterprise system, similarly to any business.  Our ratepayers support the utility and JCWSA strives to serve our stakeholders with extreme fidelity.  The GIS Coordinator is a production position, and similar to any business, this person must be willing to continually produce working GIS solutions and products for the ongoing benefit/improvement of JCWSA.

The GIS Coordinator must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in geography, computer science, planning, engineering, land surveying or related fields.  Applicants must have a strong background in ESRI products, UMS billing, and Elements XS or the ability to quickly learn these software systems.

Starting salary will be approximately $53k-$61k per year (depending on qualifications and experience), plus an exceptional benefit package.

All applicants meeting minimum qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply.  To apply please send cover letter, resume and list of five references to kjohnson@jcwsa.com.  References will not be contacted without permission.  Qualified applicants may be asked to complete an employment application.  Job description is available upon JCWSA website or by request.  Please apply immediately, as it is our hope to fill this position quickly.

Employment is contingent on successful background check, passage of pre-employment and periodic drug testing, and a 90-day probationary period.  A current driver’s license is required.  Position requires working indoors and outdoors (subject to ambient weather conditions).
