JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for conducting and/or participating in all maintenance & labor activities as directed by
the Maintenance Supervisor for the Wastewater Treatment Plant and lift stations in order to maintain compliance
with the NPDES permit while operating as efficiently as possible. Assist with WWTP operations as needed.


MAJOR DUTIES
• Basic maintenance activities working both independently and under direction.
• Labor tasks around the facility & grounds, and lift stations & grounds.
• Hourly, daily, weekly inspections of equipment including documentation.
• Inline monitoring equipment inspections & calibrations.
• Basic maintenance of all equipment throughout the facility.
• Participation in 24/7 on call rotation.
• All janitorial tasks for a well maintained facility
• All landscaping tasks for well-maintained grounds.


KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
• Familiar with janitorial tools and equipment.
• Familiar with landscaping tools and equipment.
• Basic mechanical skills


SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Maintenance Supervisor assigns work in terms of general up to and including specific instructions. The
Maintenance Supervisor spot-checks and or thoroughly checks completed work for compliance with procedures,
accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.


GUIDELINES
Guidelines include task specific standard operating procedures (SOP’s), established Best Management practices,
and local, state, and federal rules and regulations. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may
require some interpretation in application.


COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
• The work conducted in this position is basic labor and maintenance tasks which is not considered extremely
complex.


CONTACTS
• Contacts are typically with WWTP staff including the superintendent, operations staff, and maintenance staff,
vendors and associated haulers & shippers, outside contractors, and other City departments.
• These contacts are typically to give or exchange information; to resolve problems; to coordinate repairs &
maintenance; receive materials or tanker waste streams; seek or provide assistance to other City
departments.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
• The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, or walking. The employee
frequently lifts light and heavy objects, makes variable visual observations including shades of color and
physical water quality characteristics, and listens to equipment for operational sound variances.
• The work is partially performed in an office, library, or computer room. Outdoor work is required and can occur
during inclement weather conditions. The employee is exposed to bio-hazard material, industrial chemicals,
engulfment hazards (Confined Space Entry), dust, dirt, and grease.


SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the
completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, with
experience from 2-5 years.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.
• Understanding that it will be required to obtain Class III WWTP operator’s license to continue employment
beyond the probationary period.
