Director of Water and Sewer Operations
The City of Tybee Island is currently accepting applications for the position of Director, Water and Sewer Operations. All applicants must possess a Class 1 Water and Wastewater Operator’s License.
Description of Duties:
This position, reporting to the City Manager, is responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the water sewer department as well as developing and monitoring the departments operating budget (approximately 5 million annually). Responsible for carrying out water and wastewater operations to meet community service demands and assure operations comply with all State and Federal regulations.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in environmental science, engineering, construction management or related field.
- 10+ years’ experience managing and/or actively engaged in municipal water and wastewater operations.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Hold a Class 1 Georgia Water and Wastewater Operator’s License
- Strong writing and oral communications skills.
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, work, outlook and access.
- Ability to work with Federal, State and County regulatory agencies, and local governments.
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one.
- Pass a background and pre-employment drug test.

Salary: $67,042 – 71,833
