General Description and Classification Standards

Performs highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with electrical systems. Performs electrical work in a number of areas including pump stations, Water Treatment plant, waste water treatment plants, lift stations and generators. Work involves technical application of  electrical principles. Ensures the assigned duties and objectives of state licensed unrestricted are met on a daily basis in a safe, cost effective and workman-like manner. This is a team lead or "foreman" level position with a formally designated team of skilled employees, either in one or multiple skilled specialties.  Lead assignments made on a job-by-job basis would be more appropriately at the Senior level.

Supervision Received

Direction received is very general and focuses on end results and is typically collaborative in nature.  Makes decisions on technical issues, diagnoses, or procedures in collaboration with supervisors or managers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.

· Contributes to overall customer satisfaction by providing a safe and secure operation environment for the water utility through efficient and effective plant maintenance that meets or exceeds federal governed regulatory requirements pertaining to Surface Water. 

· Maintains plant electrical systems; troubleshoots to identify the problem and repair as needed. Inspects and makes repairs to taxiway lights and signs that are powered by 2400 volts and current transformers. Performs emergency repairs to Plants, pump stations, and generators when required.  

· Supervises the installation of and repairs and services of specialized electrical equipment and machinery. 

· Constructs and maintains service equipment. Reviews and maintains electrical circuit diagrams. Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment. 

· Requisitions material and supplies from stockroom; calls vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies, and recommends purchases and suppliers.   

· Plans daily and weekly work assignments through the use of IBM Maximo 7. Evaluates personnel work performance. Resolves personnel issues and concerns as they arise. Ensures crew members have the tools and equipment that are needed to perform their duties safely, effectively, and efficiently.

Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks. May make purchasing or resource allocation decisions within organization guidelines. Applies organizational policies.

Leadership Provided

Provides guidance and training as required to lower level, interns, temporary employees, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list.

· Knowledge of industrial electrical troubleshooting; knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment and systems used in the electrical trade; knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and  regulations pertaining to the electrical trade; knowledge of computer logic and programming; knowledge of Skilled in operating basic hand, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools; skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing; skilled in providing effective leadership.

· Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely; ability to assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses; ability to make rough sketches; ability to estimate cost, time and materials of electrical work; ability to analyze and respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations; ability to perform preventive maintenance on switch gears and transformers; ability to read and comprehend plans and blueprints as appropriate to trade; ability to perform heavy physical labor; ability to train and direct the work of other classified staff in the area; ability to follow and give oral and written instructions; ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience

· Completion of Technical or Vocational course of study Electricity and/or Welding or similar area. 

· 1 year of related experience in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting.

Preferred Education & Experience

· Associates Degree with a course of study Electricity and/or Welding or similar area

· 1 year of related experience in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting. 

Licensures and Certifications

· Class 1 State of Georgia Electrical Contractor License (Unrestricted License) required.
