WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR

The City of Monroe is now accepting applications for the position of Water Treatment Plant
Operator. This position is responsible for operating a water treatment plant.
Qualified applicants must: have sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant
to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/
internship or having had a similar position for one to two years; have knowledge of water
treatment plant operations, the handling and application of the chemicals necessary to maintain
a safe water supply, water system operations, and laboratory procedures; possess or have the
ability to readily obtain an appropriate state-certified license for water treatment and other
certifications if needed; possess or have the ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license
issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; have a high school
diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of related training and
experience; have the ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level
commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent; have skill in basic math
and chemistry, water plant operation, the use of water analysis equipment, oral and written
communication, and the use of maintenance equipment.

Salary ranges for these positions are Level III $30,437.00 to $45,655.00 – Level II $33,247 to
$50,923.00 – Level I $34,988 to $53,589.00. Actual starting salary within these ranges is
